Research Interests
My research explores how structural inequalities—particularly those related to race, class, and access to resources—shape demographic outcomes such as mortality and intergenerational mobility. I employ a combination of quantitative and computational methods to examine the interplay between structural processes and local contexts over time.
My three main areas of interest are:
Spatial Inequality and Demography
- Investigating how geographic disparities influence life outcomes such as access to various forms on community capital and mortality and health outcomes.
Community and Urban Sociology
- Analyzing the role of local contexts in shaping social and economic opportunities, with an emphasis on neighborhood dynamics and community resilience.
Political Economy And the Environment
- Examining the impact of economic and political structures on resource distribution and access, and how these factors contribute to systemic inequalities.
